Event:
1774
The Battle of Point Pleasant. In Western Virginia the Shawnee are defeated and forced northward to the villages across the Ohio River.

1775 General William Howe becomes Commander-in-chief of the British Army in North America replacing Thomas Gage.

1780 A powerful hurricane approaches the Lesser Antilles and slowly passes through the islands. It possibly approached the Florida coastline on the 19th. The hurricane moved out to sea, after leaving 22,000 dead. It’s one of the deadliest Atlantic hurricanes in history. Eight British warships were sunk, and the island of Barbados was completely flattened.
