1776
The Mission San Francisco de Asís is founded as the sixth mission in the twenty-one mission chain in Alta California. Lt. José Joaquin Moraga and Father Francisco Palou at present day San Francisco.

1776 American forces under the command of General Horatio Gates defeat the British. The terms of the surrender required the captured British troops would march to Boston where they would return to England and not serve again in America.

1779 A combined American and French force attempts to recapture Savannah Georgia, but they fail.
