1780
John André, who was found guilty of being behind American lines “under a feigned name and in a disguised habit”, is executed as a spy by hanging. André had met with Benedict Arnold and received information that he was to give to the British on how they could capture the fort at West Point.

1782 Charles Lee, American General of the Revolutionary War dies. Fort Lee, New Jersey is named after the Fort that carried his name.
