The Second Continental Congress begins debate on Richard Henry Lee’s Resolution for Independence from Great Britain.

1777 British troops leave their base at the Bouquet River to head toward Ticonderoga, New York.

Celebrated Birth:
Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau (b. 1725 – May 10, 1807) French aristocrat, soldier, and a Marshal of France. In 1780, He was in command of 5,000 French troops and joined the American colonists under George Washington fighting the Kingdom of Great Britain.
