Event:
1775
The Continental Congress authorizes a muster of troops establishing the Continental Army.

1777 The Flag Resolution is adopted by the Continental Congress. It reads; “Resolved, That the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation.”
