France’s King Louis XVI commits one million dollars in arms and munitions to the Americans. This gives the American Revolutionary cause the foreign support they had been hoping for.

1777 American General David Wooster dies from wounds he received on April 27 at the Battle of Ridgefield.

Celebrated Birth:
Elias Boudinot (b. 1740 – October 24, 1821) member of Continental Congress, President of the United States in Congress Assembled under the Articles of Confederation.
