1775 The British forces begin the siege of Boston.

1781 The city of Williamsburg, Virginia is taken by British forces led by Benedict Arnold. He raises the British flag over the Capitol and announces the rules of occupation.

Celebrated Birth:
Cornelius Harnett (b. 1723 – April 28, 1781) an American merchant, farmer, and statesman from Wilmington, North Carolina, a delegate to the Continental Congress from 1777 to 1779.
