The Thai Kingdom of Ayutthaya falls to Burma. The Ayutthaya Kingdom had been in existence since 1350.

1780 British warships enter Charleston Harbor as part of the campaign to capture Charleston, South Carolina.

Celebrated Birth:
Lewis Morris (b. 1726 – January 22, 1798) New York member of Continental Congress, signed the Declaration of Independence.
