1773 Luigi Vanvitelli, Italian architect, dies

1781 The Articles of Confederation is implemented. The Second Continental Congress, become the Congress of the Confederation. The membership of the Second Continental Congress automatically carries over to the Congress of the Confederation with the delegates from Maryland signing documenting Maryland’s ratification.

Celebrated Birth:
William Cushing (b. 1732 – September 13, 1810) Massachusetts judge who in 1783, while presiding over a criminal action, virtually abolished slavery in Massachusetts citing the 1780 Constitution of Massachusetts’s statement that “all men are born free and equal”.
