Event:
1788 Thomas Cushing dies. Cushing was a Massachusetts, delegate to the First Continental Congress. At first Cushing was not in support of independence from Britain and his views on independence caused him to be removed from Congress by Massachusetts in early 1776. He did finally support independence and served the Continental Army as commissary general.
