1787 William Herschel, German-born British astronomer discovers two moons of Uranus, Oberon and Titania.

Celebrated Birth:
Alexander Hamilton (b. 1757 – July 12, 1804) Hamilton used 1757 as year of birth but some evidence leads to a 1755 birth year. New York member of the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution, leading author of the Federalist papers in support of ratification of the Constitution.
