German composer Johann Christian Bach dies.

1788 The London newspaper ‘The Times’ is published for the first time. John Walter had been publishing a paper titled ‘The Daily Universal Register’ since 1785. It had been ignored by the public and after 940 edition renamed it ‘The Times’.

Celebrated Birth:
Paul Revere (b. 1734 NS – May 10, 1818) An American silversmith and patriot who helped organize an intelligence and alarm system to keep watch on the British military.

Betsy Ross (b. 1752 – January 30, 1836) although there isn’t any documented contemporary sources it is said she sewed the first American flag.
