1773 The Boston Tea Party. Colonists in Boston disguised as Native Americans dumps the dutied East India Company tea of the ship Dartmouth into Boston Harbor.
1777 Virginia ratifies the Article of Confederation.
1779 Japan’s Emperer Go-Momozono, dies. Emperor Kokaku becomes the 119th imperial ruler of Japan ruling until 1817.

1770 Ludwig van Beethoven, German composer. He is regarded as one of history’s greatest composers.
1778 Humphry Davy, Cornish chemist and physicist. One of the leading scientists in the early 19th century.
