1775
Following the orders of the Continental Congress, General George Washington forbids the enlistment of blacks. The order will later be rescinded.

1775 Following the lost British lost at their fort at St. Johns, Guy Carleton withdraws forces from Montreal.

1779 Eleven year old John Quincy Adams begins a diary, one that he will continue to write for most of his life. The entry deals with leaving home in route to go on board the Frigate Sensible to join his father in Europe. He cannot board that day and spends time at his uncle’s place.
