At Cherry Valley, New York, Loyalists and Indians massacre over 40 American settlers.

Celebrated Birth:
Abigail Smith Adams (b. 1744 – October 28, 1818) The wife of John Adams and the mother of John Quincy Adams. She is remembered today for the many letters she wrote to her husband while he served his country which are invaluable eyewitness accounts of the Revolutionary War home front.

King Charles (Carlos) IV of Spain (b. 1748 – January 20, 1819) King of Spain from December 14, 1788 until his abdication on March 19, 1808.
