In route to Philadelphia to attend the First Continental Congress Massachusetts delegates John Adams, Samuel Adams, Thomas Cushing, and Robert Treat Paine, stopped in New York. While there they toured the city and are introduced to some prominent political figures of the area.

1780 The Battle of Great Savannah/Nelson’s Ferry at Great Savannah, South Carolina.

1781 George Washington having heard that the French with 3,000 troops were heading to the Chesapeake Bay area begins to move his troops from New York south to fight Cornwallis in Virginia.
