James Wilson, Thomas Jefferson and Richard Stockton is named to a committee to devise a plan for encouraging the Hessians, and other foreigners, employed by the King of Great Britain, and sent to America for the purpose of war, to quit.

1778 Captain James Cook passes through the Bering Strait, but does little exploration due to ice.
