As part of Chief Pontiac’s rebellion against the British, The Battle of Bushy Run was fought. The British was under the command of Colonel Henry Bouquet.

1772 The first partition of Poland, between Austria, Prussia & Russia. This partition did not directly threaten the viability of Poland-Lithuania. Poland retained extensive territory that included the Polish heartland. It wasn’t until the third partition in 1795 that wiped Poland-Lithuania from the map.

1780 Benedict Arnold takes over the command of Fort Arnold at West Point.

Celebrated Birth:
Thomas Lynch Jr. (b. 1749 – 1779) South Carolina member of Continental Congress, signed the Declaration of Independence, in 1779 the ship he was on, bound for the west Indies, disappeared.

Emperor Go-Momozono, Hidehito (b. 1758 – December 16, 1779) the 118th imperial ruler of Japan reigning from May 23, 1771 until his death on December 16, 1779.
