1777 Upon learning that British Troops are burning Danbury, Connecticut Sybil Ludington, the 16 year old daughter of the militia commander, rode a 40 mile trip to announce it to the minutemen. She avoided both British Troops and Highwaymen as she traveled through Carmel, Mahopac, Kent Cliffs, Farmers Mills and finally back home.
1782 Seven Thousand Loyalist leave New York. The number of Loyalist that has left the United States to Canada reaches 100,000.
