1781 The Battle of Hobkirk’s Hill, sometimes referred to as the Second Battle of Camden, is fought. The British, led by Lieutenant Colonel Lord Francis Rawdon, defeats the Americans led by General Nathanael Greene near Camden, South Carolina.
