1779 Jeremiah Dixon dies. Dixon was an English surveyor who worked with Charles Mason determining the borders of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware (The Mason-Dixon Line).

1788 Cyrus Griffin becomes the ninth and last President of the United States in Congress Assembled under the Articles of Confederation replacing Arthur St. Clair.
